Former MEGADETH Guitarist GLEN DROVER Hard At Work On Solo Album
March 27, 2009Canadian guitarist Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND, EIDOLON) is working on a full-length album of instrumental rock/fusion songs. He says, "Things are going very well! Me and [keyboardist] Jim [Gilmour; SAGA] have been collaborating on material and we should have four songs complete by the end of May. There will, of course, be a name for this project, which I will announce soon."
The first track to be completed is a cover version of AL DI MEOLA's "Egyptian Danza", also featuring Chris Sutherland (KIM MITCHELL) on drums and Paul Yee on bass. Drover plans on uploading the song to his MySpace page on Wednesday, April 1. He says, "I had Adrian [Robichaud; EIDOLON] come over to the studio last weekend to help mix the track, in which we spent a lot of time making sure it's just right. Mastering for the track will happen a few days before launch.
He adds, "I'm excited beyond words about how this track turned out. Amazing performance from the guys, which speak loud and clear."
Drover left MEGADETH at the end of 2007 and was replaced by Chris Broderick, who has previously played with NEVERMORE and JAG PANZER.
